Intel Introduces Nettop ng Bayan 2.0
The joint program of Intel and the Commission on Information and Communications Technology (CICT) has just been upgraded. The new nettop, called "Nettop Ng Bayan 2.0" is aimed at first time PC buyers and is reasonably priced at P10,800.
The PC is powered by an Intel Atom N720 processor and is mainly designed for simple word processing, web surfing, streaming videos, or even online gaming. Atom processors provide high performance at low power and are commonly found on netbooks.
"Nettop Ng Bayan 2.0" also comes with a 15" widescreen LCD, 80GB HDD, 1GB RAM, a keyboard and a mouse. What it lacks is an OS and an optical drive.
"We feel that first time PC buyers will use this for educational purposes, or communicating with relatives abroad, and so forth. This is a cost-efficient, affordable vehicle to do that. [The same goes] for mature buyers as well, who are looking to add another PC at home for the kids… This feels like a relevant solution for such situations," Intel Technology's Philippines country manager Ricky Banaag said.
