Tokyo Game Show 2009 Here We Come!
This year's Tokyo Game Show, like always, will not be held in Tokyo, but at its usual venue at the Makuhari Messe, in Chiba City. I guess it just wouldn't be cool to call it the "Chiba Game Show". But anyway, whatever the case, the Tokyo Game Show is going to be AWESOME, and GameOPS will be there to cover it for you!
The 2009 Tokyo Game Show's theme is "Game: it's so energetic!" (Gotta love that Japanese-English translation). The event will be held from September 24 to 27, the first two days being open only to the press and game-related companies, while the last two days will be open to the public. TGS has announced that as of mid-August, 493 new game titles will be exhibited (this includes games for PC and mobile phones).
The keynote speaker of TGS will be Kaz Hirai of Sony Computer Entertainment, Inc. He will be discussing Sony's 2009 strategy. Two other lectures are scheduled, one of which concerns the strategies and visions of top game developers, and the other is entitled "Adapting the ‘Gears of War’ Franchise for Global Consumption".
One interesting segment of TGS is the "Sense of Wonder Night" (SOWN), which is focused on presenting new game concepts that give audiences a "sense of wonder". This year, 10 game ideas will be presented at SOWN, 6 of which are from developers in Japan, and 4 from other countries.
