Tokyo Game Show 2013
It's September, and that means the Tokyo Game Show will be once again held at the Makuhari Messe in Chiba. The expo is set from September 19 to 22, with business days on Thursday and Friday, and public days over the weekend. 200 exhibitors and 1,600 booths are expected to participate at the event. Just like last year, the number of visitors is estimated to reach over 200,000, though you can expect visitor records to be broken at TGS 2013 as there are two next-gen home consoles on display starting tomorrow. This year's theme: Limitless Evolution.
As always, Sony will have a very strong presence, exhibiting over 50 games, many of which are playable PlayStation 4 games such as Assassin's Creed 4, Deep Down, Drive Club, Killzone: Shadow Fall, and Knack. And, unlike last year, Microsoft will be at the show, with 8 Xbox One games to present, which is one reason why this year's TGS is quite significant. Among the Xbox games to be exhibited are Forza Motorsport 5, Killer Instinct, Ryse: Son of Rome, and Titanfall.
Another sign of an increase in expected guests is the expansion of the event space. A total of nine exhibition halls will be used, as opposed to the eight that were utilized in 2012. New areas have also been placed such as a Cosplay and an Indie Game area.
Additionally, there is news of a Filipino booth at the game show. I'll be checking out who they are tomorrow. In the meantime, you can learn more about the 2013 Tokyo Game Show from the event organizer's official press release here.
