Massive Announcements At Photokina 2016
Thanks to Photokina 2016, a lot of shutterbugs and professional photogs are drooling over those massive announcements. Here are some worth mentioning:
Fujifilm GFX 50S
First things first. My favorite of the bunch, Fujifilm dropped the bomb by unveiling their medium format camera. The Fujifilm GFX 50S is the first camera in the new GFX line and a 51.4 megapixel medium format mirrorless camera. Fuji said they didn't want to make a full frame camera because the heck, they made a medium format camera! for those of you who don't know, a medium format sensor is a lot larger than the full format and obviously the standard APS-C sensor.
Sony Alpha a99 II
Next one is Sony's addition to their Alpha lineup, The A99 II.This full frame translucent mirror camera has 4D focusing and 5-axis in-body stabilization! The a99 II is redesigned and 8% smaller than the original a99. There’s a newly designed grip and magnesium alloy body that’s dust and moisture resistant. On the back is a 0.5″ 2.36M-dot OLED Tru-finder EVF with 0.78x magnification and a 3.0″ 1.23M-dot tilting LCD screen.
Other features and specs of the a99 II include uncompressed RAW, no low-pass filter (for sharper photos), 12fps continuous shooting with AF (adjustable to 8fps, 6fps, and 4fps), dual SD card slots, a shutter rated for 300,000 actuations, and Bluetooth connectivity.
Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark II
Olympus does not want to be left behind. They announced their next flagship Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark II. This camera can shoot up to 18fps RAW images with autofocus. Yes, that speed even with RAW images.
Four years in the making, Olympus is determined to win the race with the E-M1 Mark II. The camera, currently “in development” but announced today, will feature a 20.4MP Live MOS sensor powered by a high-speed QuadCore TruePic VIII Image Processor that Olympus claims is 3.5 times faster than its predecessor.
Panasonic Lumix DMC-GH5
And finally there's Panasonic Lumix DMC-GH5. nothing much about this announcement but just a 6K format for images. Yes, 6K Photo mode that will allow you to extract 18MP stills from burst footage, or 8MP stills from 60p 4K clips
Our wallets are crying now. Help please!
