DPC-PLDT 31st Visual Arts Competition

The 31st Directories Philippines Corporation (DPC) and Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company (PLDT)'s Visual Arts Competition (VAC) launched last November 8, 2016 at the Tanghalang Manuel Conde, Cultural Center Philippines, Pasay City. Followed by the VAC 31 roadshow in North and South Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, the launch celebrates the rich and creative talents of fine arts students across the country.

VAC 31 is organized by DPC and PLDT and is open to accredited Philippine tertiary schools with fine arts program. Participating students must be Filipino, ages 18 to 24 years old.

This year's theme is “Habang May Buhay, May Pag-asa."

VAC 31 invites student artists to reflect on—and give visual expression to—how they value life, based on their personal experiences within (or observations of) family, community, and/or society. As part of their reflection, they are asked to share where they draw hope and inspiration to overcome challenges and to pursue their dreams for themselves, their loved ones, and their country.

Each participating fine arts school or department will select a maximum of five official entries. Direct student entries will not be accepted. Official entries must be delivered to DPC Main Office, 2322 Don Chino Roces Avenue Extension, Makati City between February 20 and March 3, 2017 (5PM).

The top three winners will have their works featured on the covers of 2017-2018 telephone directories of DPC (Yellow Pages) and PLDT (White Pages) in key cities in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.

Prizes are as follows:
1st Place: VAC 31 Grand prize trophy plus PhP100,000 donation for the winner's school's Fine Arts program, abd VAC 31 plaque of commendation
2nd Place: Trophy, PhP75,000 plus PhP30,000 donation for the winner's school's Fine Arts program, and VAC 31 plaque of commendation
3rd Place: Trophy + PhP60,000 plus PhP20,000 donation for the winner's school's Fine Arts program, and VAC 31 plaque of commendation
People's Choice: PhP15,000 cash and VAC 31 People’s Choice trophy/plaque
Top 30 finalists: PhP10,000 and VAC 31 Certification as Finalist

Entries will be judged on the basis of visual composition (25%), originality (25%), adherence to the theme (25%), overall impact (15%), and suitability as cover (10%).
