StarCraft is now free to download and play!
Almost 20 years since it first came out, Blizzard just issued a patch for StarCraft: Brood War.
The patch includes various updates generally aimed towards compatibility with newer systems, networking, and better internationalization support. However, probably the best update is that StarCraft and its expansion StarCraft: Brood War is now available to download for free!
With the news of a remastered version of StarCraft in the works, this seems like a very good way to hype up the potential audience for the game, especially since a lot of gamers today weren't even born yet during the time of the original release.
If you're a veteran StarCraft player craving for nostalgia (and maybe you lost your copy years ago), or someone who have been hearing a lot of hype for the remastered version, but has yet to play the original, head over to Blizzard's article and download StarCraft and StarCraft: Brood War for free.
