(UPDATED) Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) Accounts "Hacked"
Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) and BPI Family account holders are currently reporting unauthorized ATM transactions on their accounts.
This appears to be a system glitch as not all accounts were affected. Only my BPI Family account got "hacked" as I apparently now owe BPI/BPI Family P2,888. My account only had P2,000+ when an ATM withdrawal of P6000 was done yesterday. My other account at BPI remained intact.
Some reports say they were credited with a huge amount of money in their accounts and some sadly lost a huge amount as well.
Still no word from BPI as of this writing and their hotline numbers are still on fire.
Fix this, BPI.
UPDATE: There seems to be a problem at the back end of the BPI accounts as some reliable sources told GameOPS that IBM fixed an issue and it's now up to BPI to settle the problem with the customers.
UPDATE 2: BPI released a statement on their official Facebook account citing "internal processing error"
UPDATE 3: BPI has identified the root cause of the problem and is temporarily suspending electronic access.
