Resident Evil 7 Cloud's "rental version" to be removed from the Japanese Switch eShop
Nintendo Switch owners in Japan can rent cloud games, but it appears that Capcom's Resident Evil 7 Cloud rental version is set to be removed from the local eShop by the end of May 2023. The rental version of the game has already been taken off the shelves, and only those who purchased a rental pass before December 1, 2022, can still redeem it until May's end.
After May 29, players who have a rental ticket will have the option to purchase the "unlimited-access" version of the game at a reduced price. In the West, players can download a free demo of Resident Evil 7's cloud experience before deciding to purchase it.
The Resident Evil 7 Cloud game offers players the chance to stream the game and play it without a physical copy. While the rental version's removal may disappoint some Japanese players, it is still available for purchase as an unlimited-access version or a free demo in other regions.
