The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom - Why the $70 Price Tag is Justified
Nintendo of America president Doug Bowser recently shed light on the company's decision to price the upcoming game, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, at $69.99, making it the first Switch title to ever cost this much. Fans were not happy with the news, but Bowser believes that the price is justified given the immersive experience that the game promises to offer.
In an interview with AP, Bowser explained that the price point reflects the game's scale and depth, and that it won't necessarily be the norm for all Nintendo titles. He stressed that Nintendo looks at what the game has to offer and prices it accordingly. For Tears of the Kingdom, the higher cost was deemed acceptable because of the quality of the game.
It remains to be seen if fans will agree with Bowser's justification for the price tag, but one thing is for sure: The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is set to be one of the biggest games of the year, regardless of its cost.
