Xiaomi's Upcoming Smartwatch: Will It Run on Wear OS 3?
Xiaomi has recently announced the Watch S1 Pro at the Mobile World Congress (MWC). Like many smartwatches from eastern manufacturers, it runs on a proprietary operating system, the MIUI Watch OS. While this can have its advantages, such as longer battery life, it limits the watch's interfunctionality and customization. Smartwatches running on Wear OS, such as the Galaxy Watch 5 and Fossil Gen 6, have more features and utility.
However, MIUI Watch OS is already based on Android, which means that Xiaomi could use Wear OS instead to take advantage of its exclusive features and custom watch faces. According to an anonymous source, Xiaomi's next smartwatch may indeed run on Wear OS 3, and it could be available by the end of the year.
If the rumors are true, this could be the game-changer that Xiaomi needs to compete in the smartwatch market. Wear OS 3 could offer more features, interfunctionality, and customization, making Xiaomi's smartwatches more appealing to consumers. We're excited to see what the company will do with this new technology and if it will make our next list of top smartwatches.
