TV5 and ABS-CBN Discuss Potential Schedule Change for It's Showtime
TV5, through its chairman Manuel V. Pangilinan, has expressed its commitment to providing the noontime slot to TVJ and is open to considering alternative time slots for It's Showtime. The final decision lies with ABS-CBN, as MediaQuest is prepared to accommodate their scheduling preferences.
Pangilinan stated, "We're open to their schedule and we are coordinating with ABS-CBN. I believe that TV5 is committed to TVJ for the noontime slot, so it's either them or Showtime unless ABS-CBN is willing to move to another time slot, which we are prepared to offer to them. However, the decision ultimately rests with ABS-CBN."
This development follows the groundbreaking agreement between TVJ and MediaQuest, where they joined forces to bring Eat Bulaga, the country's longest-running noontime show, to TV5. Eat Bulaga's departure from GMA after 28 years was due to a disagreement with the Jalosjos family, owners of TAPE Inc.
MediaQuest acquired ABC Development Corp. and its blocktimer MPB Primedia Inc. in 2010 through a joint consortium led by businessman Antonio Cojuangco, Jr. and Malaysia-based broadcaster Media Prima Berhad.
This ongoing dialogue highlights the dynamic nature of television programming and the willingness of both networks to adapt for the benefit of their respective shows and viewers.
