Russian-American Vlogger in Trouble After Livestream Shows Mall Harassment
A Russian-American vlogger, 33 years old, is now facing several complaints after a chaotic livestream where he was seen harassing security guards and stealing an industrial fan inside a mall in Taguig City early Monday, March 31.
According to Police Major Cherrylyn Agtarap, spokesperson for the Taguig City police, four security guards and a restaurant manager have officially filed charges against him.
Two of the guards filed complaints for unjust vexation under the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012. Meanwhile, another guard accused him of theft and unjust vexation, one guard filed for attempted theft, and the last filed a straight theft complaint, Agtarap explained.
At first, the vlogger’s livestream seemed harmless, just another casual stroll around the mall. But things quickly got out of hand when he suddenly grabbed a security guard’s hat and ran away with it.
It didn’t stop there. The livestream caught him touching another guard’s gun and even giving him an unexpected kiss — actions that clearly crossed the line. He also insisted on recording another security guard despite the latter’s clear refusal.
At one point, the vlogger picked up a large industrial fan from a restaurant and casually carried it all the way to the hotel where he was staying. He even tried to squeeze himself through the hotel’s X-ray machine, adding to the bizarre behavior captured live.
The video also showed him blocking a woman’s way and using offensive language, raising more concerns about his actions.
Major Agtarap noted that based on the footage, the vlogger’s behavior was far from normal — even if it was meant as a joke or "just content," it still showed a serious lack of judgment.
The PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group has already launched an investigation into the incident.
Their spokesperson, Police Lieutenant Wallen Mae Arancilla, reminded vloggers and content creators to be mindful of what they post. She emphasized the importance of making sure videos are appropriate, meaningful, and not harmful to others. Otherwise, creators could face charges under the Data Privacy Act, unjust vexation, or even cyber libel.
Authorities are also working closely with the Bureau of Immigration, the NBI, and other agencies to address the matter.
Dana Sandoval, spokesperson for the Bureau of Immigration, stressed that visitors are expected to behave properly while in the Philippines. She pointed out that Filipinos are known for their hospitality, and visitors should respect that by following local laws.
Meanwhile, police are encouraging anyone else who may have been harassed by the vlogger to come forward and file their own complaints.
